Our natural astaxanthin from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis is 100% original BioAstin® from Hawaiʻi, produced by the global market leader with over 30 years of tradition. BioAstin® comes from a farm in a "BioSecure Zone." No pesticides or herbicides are used in cultivation and production, the non-GMO status is certified by the independent IGEN programme, and the raw material is regularly tested for pesticide residues and heavy metals. It is therefore an exceptionally pure raw material. A state-of-the-art, constantly controlled balance in the cultivation ponds prevents the growth of foreign algae. The producer of BioAstin® astaxanthin chose the Kona coast in Hawaiʻi because of its remote, pristine location and access to deep-sea water from a depth of about 2000 feet.
In open cultivation ponds, the algae generate their natural strength and vitality. The special location of the Kona coast in Hawaiʻi offers more sunlight year-round than any other coastal location in the USA, allowing the algae to grow continuously for 12 months a year. Cultivation takes place in the island's ultra-pure spring water, which is purified and reused several times. The natural lava rock and ultra-pure Pacific deep-sea water provide a rich supply of minerals and trace elements without the use of artificial fertilisers. The production is 100% vegan, without the use of fishmeal.
Unlike completely synthetic astaxanthin, which is synthesised from petroleum chemicals or yeast and used, for example, in salmon farming to achieve the attractive red colour of the fish, our BioAstin® astaxanthin is of completely natural origin. Unlike such isolated, synthetically produced astaxanthin, our natural astaxanthin is embedded in a natural complex of additional phytochemicals. The raw material BioAstin® is astaxanthin-rich Haematococcus extract with safflower oil as a natural carrier oil, which has an exceptionally high oleic acid content. The gentle spray drying using the Ocean-Chill process at low temperatures preserves the full content of valuable carotenoids and the powerful potential.
Astaxanthin is fat-soluble and has the best bioavailability in a liquid oil phase. Therefore, our capsules do not contain astaxanthin powder, but liquid astaxanthin dissolved in pure, high-quality MCT coconut oil. Our capsules therefore offer significantly higher bioavailability compared to astaxanthin powder. The producer of our coconut MCT oil can confirm that no monkeys are used to harvest the coconuts.
Our airtight and leak-proof capsule shells protect the selected oil-based raw materials as best as possible from oxidation. The capsule shells are filled under nitrogen and hermetically sealed with an additional sealing ring. This ensures the optimal freshness and shelf life of the valuable ingredients. The capsules made from HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) are 100% free of additives such as carrageenan, gelatine and PEG, unlike most other HPMC capsule shells. They are vegan, gluten- and allergen-free.
