Conventional folic acid, which is still used in many food supplements, is an artificial, synthetic product which cannot be found in nature and cannot be directly utilised by the body. Although many manufacturers offer folate preparations with active L-methylfolate in high purity, this does not contribute to an increased absorption of folic acid. Active L-methylfolate is always bound to a salt, the form and quality of which plays a role in the bioavailability of active folate. For maximum bioavailability, we have not only paid attention to maximum purity when selecting our active ingredient, but also to active components such as the crystalline form of the salt, the concentration and the stability of the active L-methylfolate.
Quatrefolic® is a patented active ingredient in which the methylfolate is bound to glucosamine to stabilise it, ensuring optimum shelf life and effectiveness. Glucosamine is a valuable and natural component of various bodily tissues and therefore an added benefit. Quatrefolic® is characterised by a particularly high bioavailability and direct utilisation by the body. Due to its extreme purity, high stability and outstanding bioavailability, Quatrefolic® is one of the two highest quality and most effective forms of L-methylfolate.
Many active ingredients on the market also contain a mixture of active L-methylfolate with the geometric variant R-methylfolate, which cannot be utilised by the body. Conventional forms of methylfolate can contain up to 50% of this ineffective variant and thus significantly reduce the already difficult absorption of folic acid, so that only a maximum of 38% can be initially absorbed. Magnafolate® Pro combines maximum purity, bioactivity and stability for ideal absorption of folic acid.
The only other ingredient we use is gum arabic, which is a natural carrier material and nutritious substance that we source from sustainable cultivation without pesticides. In contrast to microcrystalline cellulose, which is often synthetic and high in nanoparticles, we use a 100% natural and fibre-rich food as a filler. The soluble gum arabic is well-tolerated and even serves as a food source for bifido- and lactobacteria in the intestines. Our gum arabic is sourced from climate neutral, sustainable, resource-saving, and fair cultivation.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.
