How are we different?
The original branded raw material Ovomet® is formulated to support the musculoskeletal system, joints and cartilage during sports and physical activity. The special active ingredient provides a 100% vegetarian collagen complex in a natural combination with elastin, hyaluronic acid and other glycosaminoglycans. It offers a significant advantage over many other collagen products available on the market, especially those derived from non-vegetarian sources, as this unique combination significantly reduces the amount that needs to be ingested.
Through a patented manufacturing process, the Ovomet® collagen complex is extracted from eggshell membranes. This membrane covers the inside of the eggshell and is particularly rich in structural proteins and other compounds which give the membrane its characteristic strength and elasticity. The patented extraction process ensures an exceptionally high content of over 90% total protein, with a minimum of 22% collagen (made from types I, V and X) and 25% elastin. Moreover, the natural complex contains an additional 3% hyaluronic acid and 2% other glycosaminoglycans.
The only additional ingredient is lemon peel essential oil powder, specially developed for internal use using NaturCell technology. Through this patented process, the pleasantly scented essential oil, distilled from Italian lemons, is wrapped in a protective inulin matrix derived from chicory root.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, comprising more than 30% of the total weight of all the body's proteins. As a structural protein, it plays a vital role in conferring elasticity and strength to various tissues, including cartilage, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue, skeletal muscles, blood vessels, skin, bones and teeth. During collagen synthesis, amino acids are strung together to form a polypeptide chain, a process which is assisted by essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Through juxtaposition and cross-linking, thicker collagen fibres can be formed. The specific type of collagen present in a particular tissue depends on the type of tissue itself:
Type I collagen: found mostly in the skin, bones, tendons and cartilage, it comprises 90% of the collagen in the human body
Type V collagen: found within the dermal/epidermal junction
Type X collagen: found in chondrocytes
Elastin
Like collagen, elastin is a structural protein. While collagen primarily imparts strength, elastin, as its name implies, possesses elasticity.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid, also called hyaluronan, is a long-chain polysaccharide with a high water-binding capacity and high structure viscosity (plasticity), which maintains the elasticity of the skin and connective tissues. At the same time, it is a significant component of the joint fluid, the tear film and the vitreous body of the eye.
