Our Prosta Complex Functional Mushrooms for Men, developed with Dr. Katharina Burkhardt, combines valuable extracts or raw food powders of the 4 functional mushrooms cordyceps, reishi, maitake and Agaricus bisporus. It also contains an extract of pure black maca and is rounded off with vitamin C from freeze-dried acerola fruit for normal functioning of the nervous system and protection of the cells from oxidative stress.
Our functional mushrooms are sourced from the renowned mushroom-growing region of Gutian County (600–700m above sea level), in Fujian, China. The wealth of knowledge passed down through Chinese tradition for over 2000 years regarding the benefits and cultivation of these mushrooms is truly exceptional. Today, Chinese cultivators produce the most potent mushrooms, having refined their cultivation methods to the point where the cultivated mushrooms rival their wild counterparts. All our functional mushrooms contain valuable mushroom polysaccharides, in particular beta-(1-3),(1-6)-D-glucans. To further concentrate them, the fruiting bodies of the mushrooms are processed into extracts.
Our functional mushrooms are combined with black maca extract. Our original black maca powder comes exclusively from the Junín region in Peru, the traditional and only natural habitat of the maca plant in the world. There, the maca plant grows at an altitude of 4050–4200m on a gently sloping hillside near the mountain town of San Pedro de Cajas in the province of Tarma with a particularly rainy microclimate and a soil composition that differs from the rest of the Junín region. The maca root tuber is harvested exclusively by hand and sun-dried as much as possible. The tuber root is then disinfected with ozonated water, pulverised and the valuable ingredients extracted with water and food-grade ethanol.
The complex is rounded off with vitamin C from the acerola cherry of the Malpighia glabra variety, which has a particularly high natural vitamin C content. In terms of vitamin C content, naturalness and taste, our organic acerola is of top quality. Usually, an extract is made from acerola fruit juice to achieve a high vitamin C content. Our organic acerola powder, on the other hand, is a pure, natural fruit powder that retains all the valuable phytochemicals for improved bioavailability and retention of vitamin C in the body. Our organic acerola powder has a naturally high vitamin C content of 30% due to the use of the Malpighia glabra acerola cherry, which is particularly rich in vitamin C, and rapid, vitamin-preserving processing.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.
