We source our high-grade psyllium husk powder directly from one of India's leading organic psyllium farms, situated in the primary cultivation region of Rajasthan, where around 80% of all Indian psyllium originates. The psyllium seeds are hand-harvested and sun-dried at a maximum of 30°C for approximately 72 hours. Reassessing purity through mechanical separation, utilising blowers, gravity separators and polishing equipment, followed by ultra-fine milling of the pure husks yields a 99% pure psyllium husk powder.

Effects
Psyllium husks are the seed coatings of the plantain species Plantago indica / ovata. When the plant's seed pods ripen, the tiny seeds spring into the air, resembling the movement of fleas, which is where the name "psyllium" comes from (Latin for "flea"). Psyllium husks have been an important part of traditional Indian culture for over 2000 years, and have been valued in Europe since antiquity as well.
The husks in particular are naturally rich in valuable, mucilage-forming dietary fibre, known as flosine mucilage polysaccharides, which swell into a gel-like substance when combined with liquid. Gentle milling produces the fine psyllium husk powder, which has a much larger surface area and, in turn, a significantly greater swelling volume than whole husks. The swelling value of our premium organic psyllium husk powder is over 80, compared to just over 40 for whole husks.

The psyllium seeds are harvested by hand and then sun-dried at a maximum of 30°C for around 72 hours. The pure husks and 99% pure powder are obtained by separating out other plant components using mechanical separators (blowers, gravity separation, polishing), followed by fine milling.

Serving Suggestion
Take approximately 1-2 teaspoons (ca. 3-6g) psyllium powder daily, ideally on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before breakfast. Mix into water (approximately 100ml), and drink before it thickens. Drink at least 200ml water immediately afterwards. Be sure to drink sufficient water throughout the day, as psyllium absorbs large quantities of water.
As part of an intestinal cleanse, psyllium husk powder can be taken twice per day (in the morning and evening), as described above. In the evening, it is best to take psyllium at least 2 hours after a meal.
Psyllium husk powder is also suitable for thickening smoothies and shakes, and can be used in muesli and baked goods.
The National Health Service (NHS) recommends a daily intake of 20g for children age 5 to 11, 25g for children age 11 to 16 and 30g for adults of fibre. However, it is important to note that individual fibre needs may vary according to dietary habits, genetics and other factors.
Note:
Take psyllium 1 hour before or after taking any medication.
Do not take more than 5g at one time (drink a total of at least 400-500ml water with/immediately after the psyllium).
Do not consume dry. Always stir into water and drink immediately. Always drink sufficient water immediately after.
Warning
Not recommended for children under the age of 6. Individuals prone to intestinal obstruction, who have chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal disorders, a narrowing of the oesophagus, stomach or intestine, chronic constipation or are taking medication such as (tricyclic) antidepressants, carbemazepine, cholesterol-lowering medication, diabetes medication, digoxin or lithium are advised to consult a doctor before ingesting psyllium husks.
