How are we different?

Our KSM-66® ashwagandha extract is obtained exclusively from the roots and does not contain any leaves of the plant, which contain other ingredients, such as withaferin A. At 5%, KSM-66® extract provides the highest withanolide content naturally achievable from a pure root extract, providing the full spectrum of withanolides from the root in their natural ratio. Higher concentrations can only be achieved by mixing with other extracts and no longer correspond to the natural composition of ashwagandha roots.

The KSM-66® extract is obtained completely without ethanol or other solvents. The usual milk pre-treatment of ashwagandha roots is also avoided during production, making our extract ideal for vegans too. The manufacturer of KSM-66® is the only ashwagandha producer in the world with its own farms, production facilities, test laboratories and research centers. Due to the standardised content of withanolides, the extract is also suitable for clinical trials and has already been used in many published studies.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Effects

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a plant from the nightshade family. The name comes from Sanskrit and roughly translates as "smell of horse," as the roots have a strong scent that is reminiscent of horses. The term "somnifera" comes from Latin and can be translated as "sleep inducing" ("somnus" = sleep, "ferre" = to bring). In this formula, the roots and leaves of the ashwagandha plant are used and not the berry, which is poisonous in large quantities due to its alkaloid content and has a very bitter taste. The roots and leaves contain withanolides, the most widely studied phytochemicals in ashwagandha. These belong to the group of steroidal lactones and are similar to steroid hormones in their chemical structure.

Dosage

Directions

Take 1–2 capsules (500mg organic ashwagandha extract per capsule) daily with 200ml water.

Food Supplement

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children. Not suitable for children or for those pregnant or breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Ashwagandha can increase serum levels of thyroid hormones when taken over a long period of time; its use is not recommended in cases of hyperthyroidism.

There are no studies on the use of ashwagandha in children or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding; these individuals should consult a doctor before taking ashwagandha.
