Glucosamine is an essential, endogenous amino sugar with a high structural viscosity, or malleability, and is a precursor to hyaluronic acid. It is considered a primary building block for the synthesis of proteoglycans. D-glucosamine sulphate is the bioactive sulphuric acid salt of the aminosaccharide D-glucosamine and, unlike glucosamine HCl, contains organically bound sulphur.
Our chondroitin alternative, Phytodroitin™, is also an important component of proteoglycans and, in particular, of cartilage tissue. In contrast to glucosamine, chondroitin and its alternative are long-chain sugar molecules.
