How are we different?

Our omega-3 complex provides a 100% natural and purely plant-based combination of all essential omega-3 fatty acids and a broad spectrum of further valuable fatty acids and phytochemicals. It supplies the active omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, the key precursor alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), and the beneficial omega-6 fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) within a natural blend of premium plant oils from microalgae, flaxseed, chia seeds, moringa, sea buckthorn, borage and MCT coconut oil.

At the heart of the complex lies a high-dose, 100% vegan blend of bioactive omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from algae. To achieve comparable concentrations, conventional omega-3 supplements usually rely on fish oil as a base; however, many fish species show high levels of heavy metal contamination.

We therefore use 100% vegan omega-3 derived from natural algae oil. These algae are cultivated in closed fermentation systems that do not disrupt the sensitive marine ecosystem, ensuring no negative impact on fish stocks or natural food sources. Microalgae are not only an ethical and sustainable source of omega-3 fatty acids, they also contain many other valuable phytonutrients and show no measurable contamination with environmental toxins.

Our omega-3 is sourced from the algae Schizochytrium sp., which boasts the world’s highest plant-based DHA content. Unlike other vegan omega-3 products, this algae directly provides the bioactive omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA rather than just the precursor ALA, as is the case with flaxseed oil. Furthermore, the omega-3 fatty acids are present in their highly bioavailable, natural triglyceride form. In contrast, the vast majority of concentrated fish oil products consist of ethyl ester concentrates, which are not absorbed nearly as well by the body. Omega-3 fatty acids as triglycerides show 50–300% better absorption than the ethyl ester form.

To ensure standardisation, small quantities of a high-quality, oleic acid–rich sunflower oil are added to the formula. The high oleic acid content in combination with rosemary extract, fat-soluble vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate) and mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) reduces susceptibility to oxidation and thus extends the fatty acids' shelf life. The very low oxidation level of the oil (Totox value: 2 in the raw material, 11.64 in the final product) proves the freshness of the algae oil. The corresponding laboratory test can be viewed under "Lab Tests" below.

Both active omega-3 fatty acids are embedded in a rich matrix of the highest-quality plant oils. They provide further omega-3 fatty acids such as the important precursor ALA, but also the beneficial omega-6 fatty acid GLA and numerous other valuable fatty acids. Our omega-3 complex thus provides an exceptionally broad spectrum of fatty acids from 100% natural food sources.

For our capsule shells, we use unique vegan softgels made from tapioca starch (cassava root), which are produced exclusively for us without hidden additives such as PEG and carrageenan. We package this product in amber glass jars instead of plastic to protect the ingredients from light.

This product has been tested free from selected doping substances within the scope of the Cologne List®. The Cologne List® is a doping prevention initiative which publishes products which have been independently tested for selected doping substances by a world-class laboratory in food supplement analysis. As a partner of the Cologne List®, we ensure greater transparency in a very heterogeneous market and support athletes, teams, clubs and associations in the assessment of these products.

Effects

Omega-3 fatty acids are a special category of unsaturated fatty acids. They form an integral part of bodily cell membranes and are a precursor of important tissue hormones. Eicosanoid tissue hormones formed from Omega-3 fatty acids influence several important bodily functions including brain and heart functioning.

The biologically active omega-3 fatty acids are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). The EFSA has so far approved the following statements on the effect:

DHA and EPA

  • Contribute to the maintenance of normal cardiac function

DHA

  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal vision

Numerous other effects are currently under intensive research.

TOTOX Value

One of the key indicators of high quality omega-3 oils is their degree of freshness. Due to their structure, omega-3 fatty acids are naturally extremely reactive and susceptible to oxidation processes (autoxidation), which can cause them to quickly deteriorate. When omega-3 fatty acids are oxidised, primarily fatty acid peroxides are formed, which then react or are broken down into secondary oxidation products such as aldehydes (malondialdehyde, 4-hydroxyhexenal). Therefore, it is essential to thoroughly analyse oxidative by-products in order to ensure the quality of omega-3 products.

To measure the oxidation of omega-3 oils, 3 main values are used: peroxide number (POZ), p-anisidine number and the TOTOX value, which is calculated using the anisidine and peroxide numbers (TOTOX value = p-anisidine number + (2x peroxide number)).

The TOTOX value (TOTal OXidation) is an internationally recognised indicator that assesses the total oxidation value (oxidation of the fatty acids) and provides a clear overall picture of the freshness of oils. The lower the TOTOX value, the fresher the oil. The anisidine number (AnZ) is a measure of the aldehyde formation during the oxidation of fats, which reveals a lot about how an oil has been processed and stored. The peroxide number (POZ) measures the current oxidation.

Our omega-3 products are continuously checked for their anisidine and peroxide values. Unlike other products on the market, we analyse not only the raw material, but also the end product after it has been manufactured. During production, we take the greatest possible care to avoid contact with oxygen as much as possible in order to prevent oxidation processes. We pay particular attention to the freshness of our raw materials and the correct storage of the end product. Long storage times are avoided.

According to the official bodies, IFOS, IKOS, GOED and GMBI, the following limits must not be exceeded:
- Peroxide value (PV): max. 5 mEq/kg
- Anisidine value (AV): max. 20
- TOTOX value: max. 26

A TOTOX value of over 26 indicates that the omega-3 oil is spoiled and should not be consumed. A TOTOX value less than 20 is a sign of a fresh and high-quality oil. Ideally, an omega-3 product should be stored away from light, in the bottom of the refrigerator. Low temperatures significantly slow down the oxidation processes of the algae oil. This applies both before and especially after opening the package.

If the taste or smell of the algae oil deteriorates within this period, this indicates premature oxidation of the algae oil. This can be caused by improper storage or the pipette coming into contact with the mouth/tongue.

Our products have values well below the recommended limits. You can find the latest laboratory results under the "Laboratory Tests" tab.

Product Details

Our in-house production guarantees uncompromising purity and quality. Production, bottling and encapsulation take place in the EU according to our own rigorous specifications and in strict compliance with HACCP, GMP and ISO 22000:2018 standards.

Bespoke liquid formulations, (functional) foods for athletic and daily performance and select exclusive items are produced as high-grade custom preparations by chosen partners who share our commitment to quality, adhering strictly to HACCP, GMP and ISO standards.

In line with our True Clean Label philosophy, we refrain from using artificial additives, colourants and preservatives intended to standardise product appearance. Consequently, formulations containing natural botanical extracts and plant-based raw materials may display subtle batch-to-batch colour variations. These variations stem from natural factors such as harvest timing (seasonal differences between early and late harvests), origin (geographical soil and climate fluctuations) or processing dynamics (variations in particle grind size). Such natural shade shifts may also occur in our plant-based or compressed tablets formulated with premium acacia fibre or nanoparticle-free cellulose and do not constitute a defect in quality.

Laboratory Tests

The purity of our formulas is important to us. This is why we have both our raw ingredients as well as our finished products extensively tested by independent laboratories to confirm purity and active ingredient content. Here, we have provided the results of some of the tests carried out on this product.
