Our organic natural iodine is derived from kelp algae (Ascophyllum nodosum). Ascophyllum nodosum, also known as knotted kelp or Norwegian kelp, belongs to the brown algae and is cultivated in the pollutant-free waters of the Scottish Hebridean Islands in the Northern Atlantic. The algae itself is considered a a complete food because of its rich natural compound of nutrients, which are processed in a special way to produce valuable algae powder with virtually no losses. The process is currently awaiting patenting. Ongoing laboratory tests guarantee the absence of heavy metals, radioactive and microbial contamination and traces of shellfish.
For our organic iodine capsules, the only other ingredient we use besides the capsule shells is a completely natural filler, premium gum arabic, grown without pesticides. In contrast to conventional synthetic fillers containing microcrystalline cellulose and nanoparticles, we use gum arabic, a natural foodstuff rich in dietary fibre, as a filler. Our gum arabic comes from climate-neutral, sustainable resource-conserving and ethical cultivation.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.
