How are we different?
The vitamin B2 contained in this formulation is the bioactive form of riboflavin 5′-phosphate sodium—this directly active coenzyme is also known as flavin mononucleotide (FMN). Many vitamin B2 supplements contain the inactive precursor riboflavin, which must first be converted by the body into either FMN or flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) to be utilised. Although FMN and FAD occur naturally in food such as dairy products, vitamin B2 is often synthetically produced because its isolation is a complex and costly process. Given that the bioavailability of vitamin B2 from plant-based sources is significantly lower than that from animal products, we opted for a highly pure, vegan active ingredient, which offers the highest possible combination of purity and bioavailability.
The only other ingredient is premium gum arabic, cultivated without the use of plant protection products. In contrast to microcrystalline cellulose, a widely used synthetic filler often mixed with nanoparticles, gum arabic is a natural, fibre-rich food. Our fair trade gum arabic is climate neutral and is sustainably cultivated to conserve resources.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
Vitamin B2 is a water-soluble vitamin which occurs in many forms: in the inactive, unbound form of riboflavin, in a protein-bonded form and in 2 bioactive coenzyme forms: flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). Both of these latter forms are important enzyme cofactors that regulate numerous metabolic processes and play important roles in many body functions including energy prduction, growth, embryonic development and the protection of nerve cells.
Natural sources of vitamin B2 include dairy products, eggs and meat. Grain, fruits and vegetables contain only small amounts of B2, and plant-based B2 is less bioavailable.

Daily Requirements
The National Health Service (NHS) recommends a daily intake of 1.3mg for men and 1.1mg for women of vitamin B2 (riboflavin). However, it is important to note that individual vitamin B2 needs may vary according to age, dietary habits, genetics and other factors.
