Selenium products with only one active ingredient typically only offer the choice between immediately active selenium or selenium with depot properties for long term retention. Our selenium complex offers both in an ideal combination: directly active sodium selenite paired with natural and long-lasting selenomethionine from plant-based sources.
Half of this product is comprised of 100% natural, plant-based selenium from mustard seeds and selenium yeast. These ingredients form a complex which is rich in over 20 types of chemically organic selenium compounds as well as other nutrients including selenocysteine, which is particularly bioactive.
The only other ingredient in our tablets is premium gum arabic grown without pesticides. In contrast to the usual synthetic filler microcrystalline cellulose with nanoparticles, we use a natural, fibre-rich foodstuff as a filler. Our gum arabic comes from climate-neutral, sustainable, resource-conserving and fair cultivation.

Selenium
Selenium is a vital essential trace element and an integral part of more than 25 enzymes. It plays a role in several important bodily functions: protecting cells from peroxides and other radicals; reactivating other antioxidants such as vitamin C and coenzyme Q10; regulating and maintaining the immune system; activating the thyroid hormone thyroxin; preventing inflammation; promoting fertility; contributing to detoxification; protecting cells from oxidative damage by free radicals; maintaining healthy functioning of the thyroid gland; and promoting healthy hair and nail growth.
Mustard Seed Extract
100% chemically organic selenium derived purely from mustard seeds. Mustard seeds are naturally rich in numerous organic selenium compounds. Obtained via a water extraction process with no chemical solvents or residues.
Sodium Selenite
Sodium selenite has a slightly lower absorption rate than organic selenium, but very high bioactivity. The selenium is directly and exclusively available for the formation of selenium enzymes and is not built into other proteins without enzyme activity. Furthermore, sodium selenite is subject to strict regulation of selenium metabolism, such that excessive selenium will be excreted and not accumulated in the body. Because of its direct effects on selenium proteins, sodium selenite is a central component of many treatments for severe selenium deficiencies. Our sodium selenite is an ultra pure ingredient in pharmaceutical quality from Germany.
Selenium Yeast
Selenium yeast contains more than 20 different organic selenium compounds. The majority (more than 60%) exist as L-selenomethionine, the most important source of selenium for humans. The rest is composed of different forms of selenium including highly bioactive selenocysteine.
Selenium yeast is a completely inactive yeast which cannot multiply. It is an extremely beneficial food source and should not be confused with baker's yeast or intestinal yeast such as Candida.

Take 1 capsule (200µg selenium) with 200ml water daily.
Daily Requirements
The National Health Service (NHS) recommends a daily intake of 75µg for men and 60µg for women of selenium. However, it is important to note that individual selenium needs may vary according to age, dietary habits, genetics and other factors.
Contraindications
Selenomethionine can accumulate in the body due to its strong depot effect; blood levels of selenium should be monitored if high doses are taken over a longer period of time. Selenomethionine can also lower histamine levels. While low doses of vitamin C (approximately 200mg) are beneficial for selenium absorption, high doses of vitamin C (over 1g) have an inhibitory effect on selenium absorption. In this case, an interval of at least one hour between doses is recommended.

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
