For glutathione, for example, bioavailability is 63 times higher than with conventional tablets. Liposomes can fuse directly with human cell membranes because they are structurally identical. For a true liposomal formulation, an optimal ratio of active ingredient to phospholipids must be maintained, otherwise emulsions with significantly lower bioavailability occur.
